It happens as part of an interaction between three factors namely; the individual, experiences, people in their lives and the surrounding. In this regard, it could be a reaction to the environment, it could stem from biological causes, it might be a means of conveying a message, it might be a way through which a person maintains self stimulation and it c an also be a sign of abuse. The individuals showing challenging behavior are not the problem that need to be fixed but rather the behavior is a sign that some needs are not fulfilled or there is a problem with communication. In essence, a behavior is challenging if it causes harm to the individual, if it makes the individual so aggressive and if it makes the individual stereotyped. Also, a person with challenging behavior shows signs of hyperactivity, lack of awareness of danger and other non person directed behaviors. People on the autism spectrum are an example of people with challenging behaviors. Such people have a lot of abilities and strengths but they also have a lot of difficulties in being able to communicate and lack of support makes them so frustrated. If these individuals are not supported to communicate their needs, they resort to other behaviors to pass a message. In most cases, these behaviors yield positive outcomes. Build up of challenging behavior can lead to st rained relationships, wrong perceptions of the person and a stop on fun activities thereby leading to poor quality of life for the affected person and their families (Clements, 2005). Provision of quality support for the people on the autism spectrum requires additional information and knowledge and a range of supports. Without the additional knowledge beyond teaching or parenting, there is bound to be a mismatch between the needs provided and the necessary support. The mismatch usually leads to an increase in the chances of a challenging behavior. Using punitive measures is a situation where challenging behavior is viewed as deliberate usually makes the situation worse. That is why it is important for the caregivers to always remember that autism is a varied and very complicated condition. Due to the complexity, families of the affected individuals are often viewed as the lifetime care givers and they should always be at the centre of all forms of communication and decision makin g. People on the autism spectrum have the right to a surrounding that meets their needs and allows them to have free accessibility of life. An autism friendly environment gives freedom and access to preferred activities, has communication support strategies, sensory and social needs and encourages learning activities that build on their strengths. In the society today, the way of life tends to favor reactive and punitive measures to any type of challenging behavior but it is important to note that this often leads to a misunderstanding about the causes and solutions to challenging behavior. Positive behavior support is based in the science of learning and it is believed to be an effective approach for challenging behavior because of its proactivity and positivity (Stormont, 2008). It increases and strengthens helpful behavior and helps in proper planning and prevention of situations when things go wrong. In most cases implementation of most of the approaches aimed at stopping challe nging behavior usually lead to poor quality of lives. For example, modification of the environment with an aim of making the individual more comfortable can worsen situations. Positive behavior support is aimed at increasing the quality of life for all the people involved and respect for their rights. This is why it is the only way through which results can be sustained. It understands that challenging behavior is not meaningless and random and that there is a reason for it. For example, it could be because of biological causes, a response to the environment and a sign of frustration. A complete assessment of the behavior is helpful in working out reasons why it happens and helps in teaching an appropriate behavior that tends to replace challenging behavior and gets the same needs. Carrying out an assessment helps in understanding the individuals quality of life, strengths and abilities and the necessary support that will help in identifying services that are important in taking c are of those with challenging behavior. Through this, a support plan is developed with the aim of creating an environment that reduces things that make challenging behavior more likely. Also, it helps in developing a behavior that tends to replace the challenging one. Devastated at the thought of not making the team as a junior, in my subconscious I hatched a plan to show up at the Varsity session the next morning ready to play and pretend as if I had gotten the times mixed up. Naturally I second guessed this unorthodox plan but reassured myself when I considered what I had to lose by at least trying compared to what I had to gain. Sure enough, my plan went smoothly and after tryouts had ended I had been assigned as a practice player with the Varsity team. Although I didn’t have a jersey and I wasn’t in the team picture, I already felt like the risk I took had payed off; the only thing I could do was give it 110% at practice and hope for the best. After an abundance of injuries had plagued our offense, I finally got my chance at striker in a critical late season game. Prior to taking the field, I took a moment to gather my thoughts and wrapped my mind around the fact that this was my chance to reap the benefits of my hard work. ‘You deserve this. Go out there and show everyone why you deserve to play on this team’ I told myself. Long story short, the part that I played in orchestrating the winning goal impressed my coaches to say the least, and quicker than I could blink I had earned the starting spot at striker for the playoffs. A few days later as our team lineup was being announced in front of by far the largest crowd I had ever played in front of, the announcer called out another kid’s name and the wrong number for me as I wasn’t even on the roster. Despite the nervous anticipation twisting in my stomach, I had to take a second to laugh and thanked myself for my perseverance at tryout s. The only reason I had been given this opportunity was because I refused to go unnoticed and decided to get myself noticed the only way I knew how. No, we didn’t win any championships last year, but regardless I’m sure that I’ll remember last season for a long time to come. The foresight that I had to evaluate the risk of perhaps getting yelled at by a coach for showing up at the wrong time versus the potential at stake has caused me to truly believe that a risk is only worth taking if the measure of risk is equal to or exceeded by the opportunity for which you’re taking the risk. But the disadvantages of Ethnocentric approach such as the PCNs have language barriers or they have different culture background with the local (subsidiary) customer, it may result a high cost training in long term or the PCNs may not familiar the positions or demands of the local (subsidiary) marketplace. (Ball, et al. 2008; Norma D’Annunzio-Green, 1997) Polycentric approach refer to the staffing policy base on the HCNs, as Christoph Dorrenbacher, et al. (2010) stated â€Å"HCNs on the other hand are seen as basically having a local (subsidiary) orientation, due to their socialization in the host country and their familiarity with the social, political and economic environment of the host country† It can show Polycentric approach provide a high level of local responsiveness in the subsidiaries. It can be prove by another research article, Norma D’Annunzio-Green (1997) also stated â€Å"Polycentric approach implies a widely dispersed authority, little communication between headquarters and subsidiary, and standards for evaluation and control mostly determined locally. Introduction: Stabilization of soil refers to the process of soil treatment through the use of chemicals or mechanically. This is primarily done to improve the engineering properties of the soil. The chemical materials that are in common used for the purpose include lime, fly ash, and cement. Mechanical substances include geotextiles and geogrids. The use of cement treated bases generally assists in upgradation of the quality of the soil. There are several reasons for the need of soil stabilization. These essentially include the strengthening of the soil since stabilization of soil increases the strength of the soil that is already in existence thereby improving its capacity to bear loads. Also, soil stabilization enables control of dust and allows waterproofing of the soil. With control in dust, the dust that is generated as a result of use of different tools and instruments may be eradicated. Waterproofing enables preservation of the natural strength of soil by preventing the entry of water travelling from the surface (Ana, 2011). Mechanical or additive methods are the two most significant methods that can be used for soil stabilization. The blending of the materials used is highly essential in this regard since it determines the effectiveness of the stabilization. A stationary or travelling plant is usually considered to be preferable for the mixing whereas other methods like scarifies, plows, disks, graders, and rotary mixers are also used. The amount of stabilization required as well as the environment and prevailing conditions of the site determine the method that may be used for stabilization. Mechanical stabilization mixes soils of two different gradations that result in the desired soil specificity. In the additive method, the use of an additive which when added into particular amounts leads to improvement of the soil. Apart from mechanical and additive measures, soil stabilization might also be achieved through cementing or by modification. The cementing process makes use of chemicals for hardening the soils. In the process of modification, the compacting, mechanical blending, addition of cementing materials in small amounts, or addition of chemical modifiers are done to achieve the stabilization of the soil (Ana, 2011). With understanding the needs of stabilization of soils, and the different methods available for the process of soil stabilization, the present study focuses on the modern methods of soil stabilization that may be applied in the dense urban environments.
